Cheryl Lea Ayer

Cheryl Lea Ayer, 79, of Colorado Springs, Colorado passed away peacefully while in skilled nursing care on April 24, 2026. She was a cherished wife, mother, and daughter, and her presence will be deeply missed.

Cheryl was born in Denver, Colorado, on April 16, 1947, to Theodore “Ted” and Mildred “Jan” DeBoer. She dedicated her life to her family and her love for cats. Cheryl’s scrapbooks and memorabilia were a testament to each precious feline member of her family throughout the years. Later in life she was active in the Red Hat Society, forging many meaningful friendships and ultimately rising to the role of Vice Queen.

Cheryl is survived by her beloved husband Jim Ayer and her devoted son Stacy Ayer, both of Colorado Springs, Colorado.

A celebration of Cheryl’s life will be held at Newcomer Funeral Home at 901 South Sheridan Blvd in Lakewood, Colorado on May 13th, 2026 at 11:00 AM. The family invites all who knew her to attend and share their favorite memories.
