Christine Ann De Jonghe

Chris was a gentle, caring soul and the heart of her family. Born on November 26th, 1963 to Dean and Hazel Shelbourn in Oral, South Dakota, Chris entered the world with grace and beauty. The youngest of 4, she learned an appreciation for nature and outdoors early in life and followed a selfless spiritual path. Chris was an artist, a designer and had a passion for creativity. That passion was expressed her whole life through her work with floral design. Chris met her soul mate, Frank in 1983. They were married in Parker, Colorado on June 4th, 1988. Their daughter, Kayla, was born on November 29th 1988.

A remarkable dedication to her family was a part of Chris's life. The family enjoyed their time camping, hiking and bike riding. Their garden is the family's sanctuary, the place Chris felt most peaceful.

Chris passed on May 26th 2017. Her sincere loving spirit will be carried on through her family and friends.
Chris was preceded in death by her father, Dean Shelbourn in 2010 and her father-in-law, Melvin DeJonghe in 1998. She is survived by her husband, Frank DeJonghe, daughter, Kayla DeJonghe, mother, Hazel Shelbourn and mother-in-law, Jolene DeJonghe, her brother and sisters, Howard (Mary) Shelbourn, Marie (Richard) Hoover, Arlene (Wade) Bouse and sisters-in law, Jane DeJonghe, Mary (Bob) Blacker and Karen (Cory) Riggin. She is also survived by nieces and nephews, aunts and uncles and many friends. Chris will be missed by all as the most caring person most have ever known. Chris always put others before herself, even to the end.

A Celebration of Life will be held at deKoevend Park in Centennial, Colorado on June 16th at 1:00 PM.
