Clara Pauline Buhmann 91, of Denver went home to be with her Lord and Savior, on February 19, 2014. She was born March 7, 1922 in Gilcrest Colorado, the daughter of Alexander and Mary (Vogel) Schemp.
On August 8, 1953, she married Alfred Buhmann in Denver who preceded her in death in 2004. She is survived by her daughters, Judy and Jeannie Buhmann, and adopted daughter, Judy Goetzinger, one sister, Ruth Berglund of Nebraska, nieces Cheryl Danz of Florida, Linda Fischer of Virginia, Becky Durnell, Carol Burch, Vicki Tyler, and Debbie Hall all of Denver. She is survived by one nephew, Michael Tucker of Denver.
In her mid teens, she moved to Denver and attended South High school. After graduating, she held several clerical positions while pursing her dream of becoming a professional roller (figure) skater. She skated in the Rocky Mountain Regional's and later moved to Connecticut where she competed and placed 2nd in the state. After retiring from professional skating, she continued to skate recreationally until she was 80 years old when her health started to decline. She enjoyed oil painting, arts and crafts, going to the mountains, roller skating and was an avid Rockies and Denver Bronco fan.
After their marriage in 1953, she retired from Gates Rubber Company to be a stay at home mother. They lived in the Washington Park area for many years before moving to Windsor Gardens in 1982. She was a member of Calvary Temple and Heritage Christian Center.
Clara had a big heart and was always quick to think of others before herself, never hesitating to lend a generous hand or say a prayer for someone. With deep faith and genuine love for others, she spent countless hours helping those in need throughout her entire life. She taught by example and always offered unconditional love, kindness and compassion. She will always be remembered for her gentleness, smile, and sense of humor. She lived, she loved, she laughed. She touched the hearts of many throughout her life and will truly be missed.
Her family wishes to thank her wonderful caregivers and friends at Abundant Blessings and Care who became her second family.
Private services were held. In lieu of flowers or donations, the family asks you to do what Clara always did…help someone who is in need that God has placed in your life.
