Clarence W. "Sonny" Wright, 88, of Lakewood, passed away June 6, 2017 after a 17-year battle with cancer.
He was born October 11, 1928 in Denver, Colorado, the son of Clarence and Anna Wright.
He was a graduate of Christian Brothers School Las Vegas, NM High School. He attended St. Michael's College in Santa Fe, NM and then the University of Colorado - Boulder.
Clarence served honorably in the US Army during the Korean War.
In 1958, Clarence met the love of his life, ElvaJane Coffman, while the two worked at St. Luke's Hospital. Their engagement lasted 57 years and they sealed their love with marriage on May 16, 2017.
He was a former parishioner at St. Elizabeth's Catholic Church and was currently a parishioner at St. Bernadette Catholic Church where he was a sacristan.
Clarence was very involved in his church. He was an avid photographer. He loved electronics and actually built a computer. He also taught Adult Education classes in Math and English for the underprivileged. Clarence was an avid reader. He also enjoyed learning and took courses for Math, Physics and Astronomy to expand his knowledge.
Clarence is survived by his loving wife, ElvaJane Wright; Two Sisters, Beverly (Charles) Flierl, Dolores Vitco; many nieces, nephews and extended family and many friends at St. Bernadette Church.
He is preceded in death by Father, Clarence W. Wright, Sr.; Mother, Anna Mary Wright and Brother, Thomas Wright.
