Col. John William Dinsmoor (Ret.) United State Air Force
85, of Aurora, Colorado passed away November 4, 2013 at Lifecare Center of Stonegate in Parker, Colorado. He was born January 8, 1928 in the Garden of Eden, Lucas, Kansas to parents Samuel Perry Dinsmoor and Emilie (Brozek) Dinsmoor. Survived by his wife Cheryl M. Dinsmoor, of Aurora, CO; sons Casey Dinsmoor of Denver, CO, William Dinsmoor of Omaha, NE, John L. Dinsmoor of Omaha, NE and Mark Dinsmoor of Omaha, NE and step son, Matthew W. Gomez; grandchildren Jason Dinsmoor, of Omaha, NE, Matt Stelzer of Omaha, NE, Chad Dinsmoor of Omaha, NE, Katie Dinsmoor of Omaha, NE, Andrew Dinsmoor of Omaha, NE, Alex Dinsmoor of Omaha, NE, Merrick Gomez of Colorado Springs, CO, Devony Gomez of Colorado Springs, CO; great-grandchildren Tyler Dinsmoor of Omaha, NE, Addison Stelzer of Omaha, NE, brothers; Rodney Rounkles of Excelsior Springs, MO and Ramon Rounkles of Excelsior Springs, MO. John is the youngest child of a Civil War veteran. Samuel Perry Dinsmoor; a retired schoolteacher ; Civil War veteran; farmer and Populist politician, began building the Garden of Eden and Cabin Home in 1907 at the age of 64. He married 20 year old Emilie Brozek and had two children John and Emily. Dinsmoor was born in Coolville, Ohio in 1843 and passed away in Lucas, KS in 1932 at the age of 85.
Visitation Thursday, November 14, 2013 from 5-8 P.M. at Newcomer East Metro Chapel, 190 Potomac St., Aurora, CO 80011. Graveside service Friday, November 15, 2013 at Ft. Logan National Cemetery 11:30 A.M. at Staging Area "B" with full military honors.
In lieu of flowers donations are requested in John's memory to The Children's Hospital, 13123 E 16th Ave, Aurora, CO 80045, Salvation Army or the Garden of Eden Foundation in Lucas, KS.
