Cora Mildred Borom
Statement of Life: October 17, 1915 to May 6,2011.
Cora Mildred Borom was born October 17, 1915 in New Waterford, Ohio, to Mr. and Mrs. Thomas and Anna May Lewis. She grew up in a loving farm family. The family moved to Youngstown, Ohio in her youth. She married Clarence Russell and they had four children: Cora Jane, Norma Jean, Lawrence Hugh, and Phillip Marshall. After a divorce, Cora married Gilbert Borom and they raised two additional children, Robin Lee Borom and Michelle Rene Borom.
Cora Borom, a homemaker, was a long-time resident of Youngstown, Ohio. In her early life, she was an active member of the Civic League, the neighborhood garden club, and a member and founding participant in the McGuffey Center.
Cora Borom attended Thorne Hill School and Reed's Chapel AME Church. Her hobbies and avocations included gardening, playing bridge, reading, fishing, and horse racing.
Cora Borom was preceded in death by her father and mother, brothers Jesse, James, Charles, Harry, Robert, Benjamin; and sisters, Ida, Bessie, Ruth, Grace, and Nellie. Also, she prematurely lost her loving daughter, Cora Jane Clark. She leaves to grieve her daughter, Norma Lewis (FL), Lawrence (Betty), Denver, CO, Phillip (Norma), Atlanta, GA, Robin (MN), Michelle (Lawrence), St.Charles, MO, and a host grandchildren, great-granchildren, nieces and nephews.
The family thanks the caregivers and those others whose kindnesses have assisted our mother in her twilight years.
