Corinne Gutierrez left to heaven to finally dance again with her beloved husband Manuel on Sept 29, 2018. The first thing Corinne would tell you about herself was that she was born on a Ranch in New Mexico. It meant that she was tough and could handle anything. Although Corinne did not stay in New Mexico once she graduated from high school, she always carried New Mexico in her heart. At 17 she talked her parents into letting her move to Denver to get a job. After 2 years of working and having fun in Denver, she fulfilled her dream to work for the FBI in Washington D.C. This sort of "gutsy move" would characterize her throughout her life. It was in Washington D.C. where she met the love of her life Manuel Gutierrez and married him on Aug 28th 1948. Four years and 2 children later, Corinne & Manuel packed it up and moved to Denver. She worked numerous jobs as an administrative assistant and then quit to have two more children. After her last child was old enough, she chose to go back to work again at the Jefferson County Sheriff's Office where she stayed until she retired. She was much appreciated in her position as the secretary for the Sheriff for over 20 years. Corinne was a founding member of the Latin American Education Foundation and believed that education was the key to a better life. Following her retirement Corinne and Manuel traveled until declining health in their 80s made it too difficult. Throughout their entire life together they loved to go dancing and were still dancing into their later years. Although Corinne was known for her strong will (some called it stubbornness), she was a kind person and a loyal friend to many. She is held lovingly in the heart of her friends, relatives and most of all her children, Michael Gutierrez (Jan), Elena Gutierrez, Susan Gutierrez (Luis) & Diane Monteil. She dearly loved her grandchildren and was a loving nana to Alyssandra Grizenko, Roberto Balmes, Jenny Balmes, Darian Eastridge, Erik Greenbaum, Micah Thompson and Bethany Himes and her beloved Goddaughter Helene Carmen. Corinne was a kind, loving and compassionate person and will be forever missed by those who knew her and loved her.
Instead of wearing black, please wear the colors of New Mexico to Corinne's funeral.
