Cornie Feenstra, an avid outdoorsman and hunter, passed away peacefully in his sleep on the 23rd of October, 2012. His service will be held at 2:30 pm October 28, 2012 at Newcomer Funeral Home, Aurora, Colorado. Donations may be made in his name to the Disabled American Veterans.
Cornie was born on March 23, 1932 in Bigelow, Minnesota. He proudly served in the United States Air Force during the Korean War from 1952-1956. Following his service, he married Joyce Van Roekel in 1957. They then settled in Anchorage Alaska where they started their family and lived for 13 years. Farming called and Cornie moved his family to Worthington, Minnesota in 1970 where he started "Feenstra's Funny Farm". While in Minnesota, Cornie was active on the Nobles County Fair Board and other local boards and organizations. Cornie and his family moved to Colorado in 1984 where he worked until his retirement. His wife Joyce passed away in 1994. He married Phyllis Matthews in 1999. Cornie enjoy golfing and traveling in his retirement years.
Cornie was preceded in death by his wife Joyce Diane Feenstra; his daughter Michelle Lynn Feenstra; his parents Henry and Henrietta Feenstra and sister Lori Ham.
Cornie is survived by his wife Phyllis Matthews and her two sons, Sean and Mike Matthews. His daughter Anne Venditti, husband David, granddaughter Gillian of Caldwell, ID. His son, Skip Feenstra, wife Charlene and grandchildren, Taylor and Nick of Woodbury, MN. His daughter Leesa Baker, husband Tracy and grandchildren Kale, Kody and Joey of Parker, CO. His four sisters Helen Swaving, Englewood, Co.; Betty Minas, Midlothian, Il.; Eileen Brunger, Denver, CO.; and Louann Genova, San Antonio, TX.
