Dale Harrison Long, 92, passed away peacefully on August 23, 2015 in Lakewood, Colorado. Born to Robert and Francis Long on February 20, 1923 in Rapid City, South Dakota. He married Florence Johnson on May 19, 1946.
Dale grew up in South Dakota and attended the South Dakota School of Mines, graduating in Civil Engineering. He also lived in New Mexico, Wyoming and Colorado. Dale Long was employed by U. S. Department of the Interior, Bureau of Land Management as Chief Design and Construction Engineer, designing dams, water control structures, access roads, facilities and buildings. He was an avid outdoorsman, hunter, fisherman, and RV enthusiast. Dale and Florence traveled extensively around the US including Alaska, and down into Mexico after he retired in 1979.
Dale is survived by his wife Florence and three children: Gary Long (Deb) of Cheyenne, Wyoming, Vicki Holland (Robert) of Wheat Ridge, Colorado, and Linda Searcy (Pat) Golden, Colorado.
He was preceded in death by his brother Earl Babcock and Earl's son Robert.
