Damon W. Michael, September 16, 1916–June 25, 2013 is survived by wife Irene whom he married Nov 1, 1959. Preceding him in death besides his parents were six sisters.
Damon is at the Newcomer Funeral Home, 901 South Sheridan Blvd, Lakewood, CO 80226, 303-274-6065. Family Viewing from 4–5 PM July 1; others are invited to the viewing from 5–8 PM on July 1. Services will be at Fort Logan National Cemetery at 11:30 AM on Tuesday the July 2. Damon will be buried in his WWII uniform and will have full military honors, a brief Masonic service, and closing by a former army Chaplin, Mason, and Methodist minister.
Damon and Irene moved to Colorado in 1994. Damon was a resident of at Orchard Park Nursing Home, 6005 S Holly Avenue, Centennial, CO. Irene is also a resident at the nursing home and celebrated her 100th birthday with Damon and Colorado Family on May 26, 2013
Damon was born September 16, 1916 at Prescott, Kansas, the son of John C. and Jessie Woodfin Michael. He graduated from Mound City High School in 1936. After his military service in World War II he moved to Topeka in September 28, 1945. Damon was employed by Stauffer Publications from October 29, 1945 until he retired October 1, 1981. He was a member of local Typographical Union #121
He joined the military service in July 1941. During World War II he served his country in the 183rd Armored Field Artillery Battery and was attached to the 440th Armored Field Artillery Battalion. He was involved in five major campaigns in Europe—Normandy, Northern France, Rhineland, Ardennes, and Central Europe.
He was a member of Potwin Presbyterian Church, Topeka KS where he served many times as Deacon and Elder.
Damon was a member of Orient Lodge #51m AF & AM: Scottish Rite, Arab Shrine, York Rite Bodies, Ancient Toltec Rite, Past Patron Beulah Chapter #34 Order of the Eastern Star, and Past Watchman of Shepherds of Trinity White Shrine #7
