Daniel is survived by his Nieces and Nephews; Theresa, Carolyn, JoAnn, Susan, Barbara, Willie, Jr., Daniel, W.C., Lynda, Polly, Richard, Danny, Barbara, Robert, Clara and Rhonda and a host of other Great-Nephews and Great-Nieces.

Daniel was preceded in death by his Father, Richard Smith, Mother, Clara Smith, Brothers; Richard Smith, James Smith, Willie Smith and Walter Smith.

Daniel was born on January 12, 1928 in Gallion, Alabama. His parents took him to church at Mt. Olive Baptist Church. After graduating from Park High School he served in the Army during the Korean War and was stationed in Hawaii. After getting out of the Army he spent some time in New York and then moved to Chicago to take care of his Aunts and people in his community. In Chicago he retired as a postal worker after 32 years. He wrote a book on helping youth in the community.

Daniel was a great caretaker and was involved in politics. He was always helping someone.

Visitation will be Sunday from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm. at Newcomer Funeral Home- East Metro Chapel, Services will be held Monday at 10:00 am at Antioch Community Church, 2500 Lafayette St. Denver, CO 80205.
