Daniel LeRoy Braun, longtime Aurora, CO resident, passed away peacefully in Aurora, CO on Feb. 13, 2016 at the age of 76. He was born March 31, 1939 in Pasadena, CA to Henry and Bessie Braun, Jr. He was a graduate of Canoga Park High School and later he attended the Community College of Aurora and Metropolitan State College of Denver.
Dan was raised in Pasadena and Chatsworth, CA and joined the United States Army in 1958. While in the Army, he attained the rank of Specialist 5, working as a Heavy Equipment Operator near the Berlin Wall in an area called "No Man's Land." Following his time in Germany, he was stationed at Fort Carson, CO, separating from the Army in 1964 after 6 honorable years of service to his country.
On February 9, 1973, Dan married Kathleen Lucille Stantz of Denver, CO and, in 1978, they moved their family to their current home in Aurora, CO.
Dan obtained training as an electronics technician, enabling him to work in many up and coming fields such as computers, telecommunications, and intercontinental ballistic missiles.
Among Dan's passions was Cub and Boy Scouting in which he took great pride in the 35 years he spent working with young men, especially as a Webelos Den Leader and as an Eleven-year-olds Boy Scout Leader having loved every minute of his time in Scouting! Dan was a faithful and dedicated member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and loved serving in many ways, particularly as a Scout Leader, Home Teacher, and Stake High Counselor.
Daniel is survived by his wife Kathleen Braun; eight children, Mark (Andrea) Braun, Karl (Kathi) Braun, Kristen (Brian) Black, Erich (Donna) Braun, Elsa (Nash) Moore, Joel (Hannah) Braun, Alethea (Juan) Cubas, Kevin (Lisa) Braun; nineteen grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews; and sister, Elsa (Jerry) Porter. He is preceded in death by his parents, Henry & Bessie Braun, Jr. and grandchild, Patrick Braun.
Dan was, and continues to be, a righteous and faithful servant of our Savior, Jesus Christ as well as a happy, peaceful, and positive influence in the lives of all who knew him.
Memorial services for Dan will be held February 20, 2016 at 10:00am at 950 Laredo Street Aurora, CO 80011 at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints with a public visitation and viewing from 8:30-9:30am. All are welcome to attend.
