Darla Lively

December 16, 1952 — December 18, 2013

Darla Diane Hotchkiss was born December 16, 1952 in Winner, South Dakota to Donald and Sybil (Achenbach) Hotchkiss.
Darla was a baptized and confirmed child of God. She claimed her baptismal promise and passed into heaven on December 18, 2013.
Darla attended Pickstown, SD elementary school, Lake Andes, SD Central High School, and Dakota Wesleyan College. She had a great love of music, playing the accordion while in high school, and she played the organ at the Pickstown Community Church. She also played the organ at the Wagner, SD VFW during the dinner hour.
Darla married Kenneth Lively on November 26, 1988. Her daughter, Jonelle, and two grandchildren, Breann and Connor were the other loves of her life.
Darla was a 45 year member of the American Legion Auxiliary in Pickstown, SD. Other interests included horse-back riding in her younger years, doing crafts, and dancing. She loved riding the motorcycle with her husband, Kenny.
She was employed by several attorney offices, and also the Adams County Courthouse. After retiring from the courthouse, she turned her attention to loving and caring for small children, and the children dearly loved her.
Darla is survived by her husband, Kenny; her mother, Sybil Hotchkiss; her daughter, Jonelle Hogan; and grandchildren, Breann and Connor. She is also survived by brothers Donald (Jan) Hotchkiss and Jeff Hotchkiss, numerous step-children, step-grandchildren, aunts and uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and many friends. She was preceded in death by her father, Donald Hotchkiss; nephew, Forest Hotchkiss; and her grandparents.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Lutheran Church of Hope Memorial Fund in Darla's name.

There are stars up above
so far away we only see their light
long, long after the star itself is gone
And so it is with people that we love--
their memories keep shinning ever brightly
though their time with us is done
But the star that lights up the darkest night,
these are the lights that guide us.
As we live our days, these are the ways we remember
