Darrell William Pedri
December 19, 1939 — November 21, 2016
Darrell W. Pedri, age 76, son of Fred and Evelyn Pedri, passed away Monday morning November 21, 2016 at Lutheran Hospital in Denver.
He leaves his wife of 53 years, Catherine; sons: Paul (Tami), Russell (Stellina) and Eric (Jen); five grandchildren: Spencer, Jared, Jeanna, Alyssa, and Oliver; Brother, Bert (Marilyn). He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, cousins and close friends.
Darrell was born in Trinidad, Colorado, and grew up in Segundo and Valdez. He graduated from Primero High School and went directly into the U. S. Navy where he served as a navigator on an aircraft carrier bomber.
Upon completion of his military service, Darrell graduated from Trinidad State Junior College. He then worked on the Kerr family farm while attending Adams State College earning a triple degree in Accounting, Business Administration, and Education.
Darrell's first job after graduation was teaching at Trinidad High School. He then went into the business world as Controller for Montgomery Ward, and spent many years in various areas of management for the company in Nebraska, Oklahoma, Texas and Colorado.
Upon retirement, Darrell moved to the Pedri Ranch in Wet Canyon. He operated the ranch and managed the parts warehouse for Felix Chavez and Son in Weston. His favorite pastime was the 10 plus years he spent as director and volunteer fire fighter with the Stonewall Fire Department. Darrell was especially proud of donating the land where the Stonewall Fire Department Headquarter buildings are located.
He will be deeply missed by his friends, family, and all who knew him.
In his honor, a memorial potluck will take place on Saturday, February 18, 2017 at 11:00 am at the Primero Community Center, 20200 State Highway 12, Primero, Colorado. So, please bring a dish to share and enjoy memories of Darrell's life.
