David Joseph Armijo-Salas
December 31, 1977 – October 8, 2026
David Joseph Armijo-Salas, known as DJ or Dave, passed away on October 8, 2026, at the age of 48.
Born and raised in Denver, Colorado, DJ was a deeply loved husband, father, brother, uncle, and friend whose humor, talents, and devotion to his family created everlasting memories. DJ and Sabrina’s story began when they were both 17. In their 31 years together, they built the family they always dreamed of, went on exciting adventures around the world, and carried forward the love and traditions they learned from their families. DJ's motto was Family First, so he always found ways to ensure his life and work reflected that.
Together, they raised Devon, Daniel, and Lia. DJ adored his children—their wit, their grit, and the promise he saw in each of them. He shared everything he knew, even when they weren’t eager for the lesson. He taught Devon how to build and fix things and sparked his interest in mechanics. He passed his love of computers on to Daniel, who went on to build his own. He encouraged Lia to be independent and speak her mind, nurturing their close bond through special Daddy-Daughter dates.
A proud, self-proclaimed nerd, DJ embraced his gifts for technology. He built computers, experimented with 3D printers, was an avid photographer, and tech support for many. He was also the BEST cook. His green chile and refried beans were highly requested, while his meatloaf, “daddymac,” and steak tacos were never turned away.
Some of the family’s happiest moments happened around the dinner table, enjoying delicious food, cracking jokes, and laughing until their stomachs hurt. DJ could make them laugh on any occasion, in any location, for any reason. He knew just what to say at the right time.
DJ is survived by his wife, Sabrina; their children, Devon, Daniel, and Lia; his sister, Rebecca Armijo; his niece, Briana Armijo; his nephew, Dorian Holler; and his great-nephew, Savino Holguin. He was preceded in death by his mother, Madeline “Maddy” Gifford; his grandmother, Gertrude Salas; and his grandfather, Abe Salas.
