David H. Lodge, 68, a resident of Wheat Ridge, CO for many years, passed away on Tuesday, June 11, 2013, at Exempla Lutheran Medical Center in Wheat Ridge after declining health.
David was born in Amsterdam, NY on June 19, 1944 the only son of the late Harry and Velma (Walker) Lodge. Dave resided in New Hampshire during his childhood. He loved swimming, archery, and playing his bugle. He was a member of the YMCA, being honored as the "Man of the Year" for his work with underprivileged boys. He also spent every summer at Camp Mi-Te-Na, a Boy Scout camp.
Dave graduated from West High School, Class of 1962, Manchester, NH. After graduation he enlisted in the Army, starting his military journey at Fort Dix. He served time in Germany as a writer and photographer for the Army. He then was transferred to Vietman and served as a Green Beret. David was a decorated Veteran, receiving several medals. Upon his return from the military he served on the Concord and Manchester, NH police departments. He also attended Emerson College in Boston, MA and also was a disc jockey.
In the 1970's Dave moved to Denver, CO. He was part owner of an accounting placement business. Due to his eye injury in Vietnam, making him legally blind, he had to give up this business. He has been retired for several years.
David is survived by his significant other of 19 years, Debbie "Shrimp" Tillman; sister, Judith Kleiner of Nashua, NH, and long time friends, Dave Worley and Paul and Linda Bonnstetter. He is also survived by his two nephews, Scott and Jeff Kleiner of Nashua, NH.
There will be no calling hours. A military service will be held at Fort Logan National Cemetery, CO. Funeral home is in charge of arrangements. Donations to the Wounded Warrior Project or your charity of choice.
