David C. McLellan

David McLellan, beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend, passed away peacefully on December 10, 2024, at Health One Hospital in Aurora, CO, surrounded by his loving family.

Dave was born on April 17, 1932, to Herman and Beatrice McLellan. He was raised in Denver, CO, and graduated from Cathedral High School in 1950. On October 27, 1951, Dave married his high school sweetheart, Patricia (Pat) McLellan, and together they built a life full of love, family, and adventure.

In March 1951, Dave enlisted in the United States Air Force, where he was stationed at Clovis Air Force Base in New Mexico. He later transferred to the Air National Guard, serving until August 1952 with the rank of Airman Second Class (AC/2C). His dedication to his country continued throughout his life, and he remained an active member of the Colorado American Legion for 40 years.

In 1967, Dave ventured into the world of printing and opened Creative Arts Printing. In 1983, he and Pat, along with Jackie and Bill Schneider, purchased Gold Crown Lanes, where they ran a successful bowling alley in Fort Morgan, CO. Dave and Pat retired in 1997 and moved to Castle Rock, CO, to be closer to their children and family. Later relocating to Aurora, Colorado living in the loving care and home of Andrea and Stephen Laca.

Dave had a deep love for the outdoors, especially camping and fishing. His favorite memories were those spent with family and friends at the family cabin, “Sky Cabin.” He and Pat were avid bowlers for 45 years, a passion they shared with their children, grandchildren, and many friends. Dave participated in numerous leagues and tournaments at the local, state, and national levels, always with a spirit of camaraderie and fun.

Above all, Dave was a devoted father. His children remember him not only as a loving dad but as a best friend. His presence in their lives was a constant source of love, guidance, and support.

Dave is survived by his children: Chris McLellan; Sheila Heimerl (David Hansen); Sheryl Anderson (Daniel); Shauna Geist (Brett); and Andrea Laca (Stephen); as well as 14 grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren, and his brother, Phil McLellan (Cheryl). He also leaves behind many nieces, nephews, and extended family members. Dave was preceded in death by Patricia, his beloved wife; his parents; his sisters, Mary Edith Roberts (Chuck), Beatrice Cullinan (Bob); and his brothers, Bruce McLellan (Mary Louise and Marguerite), Leo McLellan (Mary Gene); sisters-in-law Jackie Schneider (Bill), Regina Adducci (Joe); and his great-grandson, Mark David Heimerl.

Dave’s legacy of love, laughter, and service to his family and community will continue to inspire those who knew him. He will be deeply missed, but his memory will live on in the hearts of all who had the privilege of knowing him.
