David Schaller

David Schaller age 73, of Aurora, Colorado, passed away on August 28, 2026.

Born on May 25, 1953, in Omaha, Nebraska, David grew up in the Pacific Northwest. David later made his home in Denver, where he built a meaningful life and long career. He worked with Continental Airlines and then later the Transportation Security Administration (TSA), taking pride in his service and daily work.

David shared a long, beautiful love story with his wife, Surang "Su" Evans. After meeting in 1995 and spending many devoted years by each other's side, they officially tied the knot in 2020. Though they had no children of their own, David embraced Su’s family as his own, finding immense joy and fulfillment in being a loving presence and babysitter for her grandnieces.

A familiar and friendly face in his neighborhood, David enjoyed the simple, sweet pleasures of life. He loved going on daily walks with Su, riding his stationary bike, sharing good snacks, and spending time with those he loved. He was a cherished member of the community at New Life Community Church in Aurora, where his faith and friendships anchored him.

David is survived by his beloved wife, Surang Evans, as well as his sister, Peg (Dennis) Hyland. He was preceded in death by his parents Alice Thoresen and John Schaller Sr. and his older brothers John Henry "Jack" Schaller II (Joan) and Doug Schaller (Barbara) and his stepdaughter Linda Evans.

A memorial service to celebrate David's life will be held on Saturday, September 19, 2026, at 2:00 PM at New Life Community Church in Aurora, Colorado. All who knew David and wish to say a final goodbye are warmly invited to attend. In accordance with his wishes, David's ashes will later be laid to rest with his family in Vancouver, Washington.
