With heavy hearts and loving memories, we announce the passing of Debra Ann Herrera, who left this world on July 28, 2026, at the age of 69. Born on August 18, 1956, in Denver, Colorado, Debra’s life was deeply rooted in the city that would see both her first and final days—Denver, a community she enriched with her indomitable spirit and deep capacity for love.

Surrounded by her daughters in her last moments, Debra departed this life after enduring numerous medical struggles. Through every hardship and challenge, Debra’s resilience shone brightly. She navigated life’s storms with a courage that inspired all who knew her, always clinging to hope and pushing forward for the family she cherished so dearly.

To those who loved her, Debra was joy in motion—a talkative, bright soul who filled every room with life and laughter. Her children—Monica, Fernanda, and Jose—were the heartbeats that sustained her. Each of her grandchildren—Camisha, E.J., Desirae, Zarissa, Toby, and Destiny—brought her immeasurable happiness, their laughter echoing through her home. Her legacy reaches even further through her adored great-grandchildren: Natalia, Gionni, Zenay, Santana, and Azariah.

Debra is survived by her brother Raymond Herrera, her brother Joey Herrera, her brother Roy Muniz, and an extended circle of family who knew her unwavering support and generosity. She joins in eternal rest her beloved mother Rachel Flores; brothers Simon Moses Herrera and James Maestas; and her much-missed daughter Raquel Herrera. The loss of her daughter Raquel was a profound heartache for Debra, one that dimmed her spark but could not extinguish the love and memories she continued to share. There is comfort, now, in knowing they are reunited at last.

Music provided Debra solace and joy throughout her life—especially the sounds of her cherished low rider oldies or the uplifting power of faith music. She reveled in dancing around the house, never missing a chance to move with the rhythm, especially when joined by her grandchildren, whose delighted recordings are precious family treasures. These, alongside the memories of her infectious laughter, will remain cornerstones of the family's remembrances.

Debra expressed love through actions—cooking her favorite tacos for family gatherings, planning gifts and surprises, and doing everything possible to make those around her feel cared for. She overcame adversity with remarkable strength and determination. 

Debra had an extraordinary ability to bring levity to any situation, her laughter uplifting those nearest her, especially the grandchildren who knew her as a constant source of delight and silly fun.

Her absence leaves an ache in the hearts of all who knew her, yet also a profound gratitude for the years spent basking in her love and light. Debra’s journey through hardships and triumphs has left a lasting example of courage, generosity, and enduring affection.

Family and friends will gather to remember and celebrate Debra Ann Herrera at New Hope Bible Church, 8761 Huron St, Thornton, CO 80260, on August 18, 2026. Visitation is scheduled from 2:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m., followed by a funeral service from 3:00 p.m. to 4:30 p.m., where her life will be honored and cherished memories shared.
