Deloris Greenwood

August 27, 1928 — May 8, 2012

Deloris Costella Greenwood was born on August 27, 1928. She was the youngest of five children born to Central V. and Marie Settles Williams of Louisville, Kentucky.

She attended Tennessee State College majoring in physical education, then joined her family in their move to Minneapolis in the late 1940's. Her love of dance landed her a position as a dance instructor for the world renowned Arthur Murray Dance Studio. While in Minneapolis she held positions with Honeywell and the federal bank.

She married Richard Patton and out of that union were born Richard "Ricky" and Yonna Patton.

In 1970, she married Ralph Greenwood and they moved to Sioux City, Iowa, where she gave birth to their daughter Shawn in August of 1972. They moved back to Minneapolis in 1972 and made their home in Eagan.

In 1979, she and Shawn moved to Denver to join Yonna. She became a Grandmother In 1981, after the birth of Yonna's son Shamar. During this time she worked with the United States Air Force.

In later years, she lived with her daughter Yonna and Grandson Shamar during which she enjoyed assisting her with her Doggy Daycare business where she became the loving Grandma to many.

She is proceeded in death by her Father, Central V. Williams, Mother, Marie Settles Williams, Brothers Hiram, Central V., Howard and Lorenzo Williams and her son Ricky Patton.

Deloris is survived by her daughter's Yonna Patton and Shawn Greenwood, Grandson, Shamar Patton, Nieces Carol "Star" Williams. Debra Williams McClure, Pamela Maury and Jennifer Williams, Nephew Gregory Williams, Great Nephew Brian Maury and Great Niece Mya Maury in addition numerous friends both human and K-9.

Her joyous times were with her family. She loved music, dancing, being around her Grandson and the many dogs that frequented their home. She was her family's historian and shared many pictures and stories She was always up for a good bingo game and occasional trip to the "Hill".
