Derwood Dean Christie, Jr. 1943-2011
67 of Arvada, passed away on Friday, July 22, 2011. He is survived by his mother, Marguerite. His brother, Ron. His two nephews, Joe and Clay. He is also survived by many close friends. Preceded in death by his father, Derwood, Sr.
Derwood was an outstanding football player at Denver West High School. He was retired from the Denver Post after nearly forty years. After his retirement he enjoyed working in casinos in Blackhawk, Colorado and at the Arvada Election Commission, as well. He also enjoyed golfing with his friends at Lake Arbor Golf Course. Derwood spent much of the last year caring for and spending time with his mother. Although Derwood was a private person, he was always there when his family and friends were in need, he will be greatly missed.
