Dewey Hicks

December 4, 1944 — February 17, 2025

Dewey Hicks, born on December 4th, 1944, in Queens, New York, passed away on February 17th, 2025, in Aurora, Colorado. Dewey served honorably in the United States Marines, including a tour in Vietnam, and later dedicated over 30 years to the Air National Guard. He was immensely proud of his military service and stayed in close contact with many friends that he served with in the Air National Guard.

A proud alumnus of Queens College in New York City, Dewey graduated with a degree in Sociology, and taught Science as a high school substitute teacher. His life was marked by his unwavering commitment to family, friends, and service to his country.

Dewey was predeceased by his daughter Nicole. He is survived by his loving wife Gloria, his sister Muriel, his brother Jimmy, his nephew Albert, his stepdaughter Alexandria, his step granddaughter Brandy, partner Brandt, their children Giovanni, Lorenzo, Chiron, and Ronin, and his dear friend Ron Blackmon, who provided enormous support to Dewey and Gloria over the years.

Known for his heart of gold, Dewey was always willing to lend a helping hand. His great grandchildren brought him immense joy, and he cherished every moment spent with them. An excellent chef, Dewey had a passion for outdoor grilling and was a master in the kitchen. He also had a keen interest in music, computers, science, technology, military aircraft, and exploring his family history.

Dewey actively participated in organizations such as The Tuskegee Airmen, Inc., and was loved by all who knew him. His legacy of kindness, dedication, and love will forever be remembered.
