Dock Foster III, 69, of Aurora, CO passed away Tuesday July 9, 2013.
He was born to the late Dock and Earline Foster II on May 17, 1944 in Bessemer, Alabama. He graduated from J.S. Abrams High School in 1962, attended Alabama A&M College for a while, then enlisted and served in the Air Force from December 1967 to October 1971. He then went on to serve on the Denver Police Department from November 1971 to July 1985. Afterwards, he transferred to the Aurora Police Department where he served from July 1985 to the spring of 1994 when he retired. Lastly, he worked in the security department of the Adams Mark Hotel from 1996 to 2001.
He had two sons, Dedrick & Gary Foster, with his first wife, Lillie McCurtis. He later married Eva Anderson in April of 1974 and became a father for Erica and Chris. He is also survived by his siblings Willie Ann Sanders (Clifton) of Bessemer, AL, Emily Bradley (John) of Hoover, AL, Katie Cox of Bessemer, AL, Murline Lewis of Birmingham, AL, and Glen Foster of Bessemer, AL. He is preceded in death by his brother Marvin Foster of Bessemer, AL. Dock is also survived by nine grandchildren: Brittany (26), Krystin (24), Evan (22), Jorden (21), Meagan (20), Dedrick Jr (18)., Grace (10), Olivia (7), London (6), and one great-grandchild, Ellie Louise(8 months).
In high school he enjoyed learning tailoring. He was also a member of the Sixth Avenue Beulah Youth Choir. In addition to his career in law enforcement, Dock enjoyed several interests such as building an extensive music collection and becoming a wonderful cook after retirement. He enjoyed photography and computers as well. Following his lung transplant in January of 2009, Mom and Dad became mentors through the transplant program. Dad spent many hours on the computer and in person guiding and supporting other patients.
Following a private service at Fort Logan National Cemetery, a Celebration of Life Memorial will be held at Bethel Lutheran Church located at 1450 Airport Blvd, Aurora CO, 80011 at 1:15pm.
