Dolores Marie Sharkey , 93, of Denver, formerly of Colorado Springs, passed away May 5, 2016.
She was born November 14, 1922 in Chicago, Illinois, the daughter of Ernest and Myrtle (Muzzy) Shires.
She was a graduate of Schurz High School in Chicago, IL.
On July 18, 1942, she married Howard C. Sharkey in Ontario, California while Howard was in Officer Training for the Army Air Corps, later the US Air Force.
She was a past member of the Officers' Wives Club.
Dolores loved to travel and sing. She belonged to a choral group through the Officers' Wives Club. She was also interested in genealogy. She will be remembered as a very spirited woman who took great pride in her meticulous appearance. Above all, she was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She will be dearly missed.
Dolores is survived by Two Sons, James B. (Faye) Sharkey and Allen H. (Marla) Sharkey; Daughter, Suzanne M. (David Jordan) Sharkey; Daughter-in-law, Marybeth Sharkey; Twelve Grandchildren, Derrek W. (Amy) Johnson, Aaron M. (Laura) Johnson, Jenna M. (Ben) Thomas, Nicole Sharkey, James T. (Andrea) Sharkey, Jennifer (Shane) Palmer, Steve (Amy) Sharkey, Michele (Bill) Bauer, Scott (Heather) Sharkey, Alex B. Sharkey, Lincoln Mooney and David (Danny) Edwardson; 23 great-grandchildren and Several nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by Husband, Howard C. Sharkey; Father, Ernest Shires; Mother, Myrtle Shires; Son, John R. Sharkey and 1 Brother.
