Dolores Elaine Romero, a radiant soul born on February 21, 1951, in the vibrant city of Denver, Colorado, passed away peacefully on April 11, 2025, at Collier Hospice, surrounded by her beloved family. As the youngest daughter of Marie and Paul Mondragon, Dolores carried the warmth of her family’s heritage into every aspect of her life.
In her formative years, Dolores embarked on a journey of education at Job Corps, where she discovered her talent for industrial sewing. This skill not only served her well throughout her career, as she later retired from Denver Health Hospital, but also underscored her commitment to nurturing and providing for others. Dolores was known far and wide for her famous green chili, a dish that welcomed all who stepped through her door. Her home was a sanctuary where love was expressed through food, as she graciously fed anyone who walked in, ensuring no one ever left hungry.
Dolores's personality shone brightly; she was a kind and caring person with a great sense of humor, traits that endeared her to all who had the pleasure of knowing her. She cherished her time spent watching cops and true crime shows, always eager for a good story, and her early passion for bingo brought her much joy during her youth.
A devoted matriarch, Dolores took immense pride in raising all of her grandchildren, an accomplishment that filled her heart with unparalleled joy. She leaves behind her cherished family: her grandchildren, Brittani (Luis) Larios, Adrian Romero, Nicholas Romero, Victor Torres and Isaac (Bailey) Martinez; her great-grandchildren, Noemi, Bella, Olivia, Ellie, Dominique, and Sonny; and her beloved brother, David Mondragon.
Dolores is now reunited in eternity with her predeceased beloved family members, including her cherished children, Tony, Bernie, and Chrissy, as well as her grandchild, Ronnie, and her dear great-grandchildren, Aristacia and Alexander. She also joins her siblings, Adeline, Richard, Cowa, Ronnie, and Priscilla, who surely welcome her with open arms.
As we remember Dolores Elaine Romero, we celebrate a life well-lived, a spirit that touched countless hearts, and a legacy of love that will continue to resonate within her family forevermore.
