In Loving Memory of Donald “Duck” Lee Dixon Sr., November 11, 1937 – June 10, 2025.
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the peaceful passing of Donald Lee Dixon, age 87, on June 10, 2025, at The Denver Hospice in Denver, Colorado, with his family by his side.
Donald was born on November 11, 1937, in Denver, Colorado John A. and Irene L. Dixon. Don grew up in a loving household with his parents, four sisters, and three brothers. It was there that he began a lifelong and abiding love for family and friends.
Don graduated from Manual H.S. located in Denver in 1956. He was drafted into the United States Army in 1960, where he served, traveling across the world, until he was Honorably discharged in 1966. In 1965, before leaving the Army, Don started working for Mountain Bell which later became AT&T until his retirement in 1989.
Don met his future wife, Mae (Burton) Dixon in 1968, and they were married in 1979. They shared 46 wonderful years of marriage. Together, they built a life filled with cherished memories and deep love. He was a devoted husband and father.
Together Don and Mae embarked on countless adventures and celebrated their love of music, family and friends. Don and Mae loved spending time with their children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. They enjoyed hosting family dinners.
Don is survived by his wife Mae Dixon, his sister Helen Cole, brother Kenneth (Larky) Dixon, his daughters, Yavette Vaughns, Tracy Hart and Donlynett McGee and his sons, Anthony Vaughns and Demetrius (Steph) Dixon. He’s also survived by grandchildren, De-Shawn, KiShonna, Isaiah, DeAndre, Chris, Angie, Channie, Brittany, Camri and Kassidee, as well as 23 great grandchildren and many other family members and dear friends. Don is preceeded in death by his mother and father, John A. and Irene L. Dixon, his sisters Dolores Taylor, Carol Bruce and June Marie Walton, his brothers, John A. Dixon Jr. and Leonard Dixon, as well as his son, Donald Lee Dixon Jr.
Don’s family extends heartfelt gratitude for all the support and assistance from everyone during this time. He will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
