Donald E."Don" Nalty

February 28, 1925 — June 5, 2017

Donald E. "Don" Nalty, 92, of Denver, passed away June 5, 2017.

He was born February 28, 1925 in Denver, Colorado, the son of Richard and Isabel (Marco) Nalty.

He was a graduate of St. Joseph's High School. He attended Denver University.

On September 4, 1948, he married Doris Irene Sillstrop.

He honorably served in the US Navy during World War II. During his time in the US Navy, Don and two of his buddies went on leave and purchased horses that they rode. He owned the horse for 6 months and rode it on the beach, a bay named Harry. He had to sell the horse because he was transferred to the Phillippines.

Donald was a long time parishioner at Light of the World Church. He also enjoyed attending breakfasts that the Colorado State Patrol Alumni Association.

Don was an avid health and fitness advocate and all-around athlete. He ran marathons with his son Steve and rode his bicycle in the MS150 with his son, Danny. He adored his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He especially liked his dinner-dates with his granddaughters. He loved watching the Denver Broncos with his son-in-law, Mike and granddaughter, Cara, who also took him to games occasionally. He had a passion for boxing and would watch matches with granddaughter, Colleen and great-grandson, Jameson. He was a very spiritual man who loved to go to church with his grandson, Cliff and they would pray the rosary together. He had a zest for life and loved people. He was a magnificent storyteller and the keeper of our history. He loved cars, especially cars from the 1930s and 1960s, and loved to drive. He always regretted that he didn't purchase that dark blue 1931 LaSalle that his brother Dick talked him out of. He was very classy, kind and humble. He was the best of men.
