Donald J. Halbeisen, 82, of Golden, passed away March 20, 2014.
He was born November 5, 1931 in Litchfield, Nebraska, the son of Albert and Myra Josephine (Quinn) Halbeisen. He was a graduate of Dowling High School. On August 26, 1961 he married Marlys Nollett, of Valentine, Nebraska.
Don was a very hard worker from his childhood until the time he became ill with Dementia. He never quit until the job was done and was always willing to do what needed to be done. After high school he worked on a ranch near Hyannis, NE, then went to the Army where he became a Sargent and guarded the Bromberg Gate in Berlin, Germany during the turmoil. He returned to Hyannis and worked on the ranch again. While there the teacher at the local school quit and he taught for the rest of the year. After he married he was on the Colorado State Patrol for 15 years during which time he nearly lost his life. He was a strong dedicated man. After that he worked security for many years. He was very proud of his wife and family and supported us with whatever we chose to do. If you closely look at the picture of the horses you will probably see him. Throughout his disease he never lost his love for horses. We went to see horses every day until he went to Almost Like Home. He loved Almost Like Home and they took such good care of him. He is terribly missed but at last he no longer lives in confusion and uncertainty. He rests in peace. Please join me and our family in celebrating his life.
Donald is survived by Wife of 52 years, Marlys Halbeisen, Daughter - Rita A. Payne; 3 Sons - Rex (Paula) Halbeisen, Dale (Elsa) Halbeisen, Dean (Tamera) Halbeisen; 12 Grandchildren and one Great Grandchild. Also survived by Siblings - Quinlan Halbeisen, Frances Lowder, Parnell Halbeisen, Joseph Halbeisen, and Thomas Halbeisen. He is preceded in death by Father, Albert Jacob Halbeisen, Mother, Myra Josephine Halbeisen.
