Donald Gordon Westphal, 91, of Centennial passed away on May 21st. He was born to the late Herbert and Veronna Westphal , September 24, 1933 in Sheldon, Iowa. Don graduated from Grand Island High School in 1951, and then went to Doane College in Nebraska for three years before enlisting in the Army in 1955. After being discharged Don enrolled at Midland College where he received his BS degree in Business Administration.
Don married Dorothy Westphal in 1964, and they lived in Great Falls, Montana where he was working in retail with Sears. After several moves with Sears they moved to Arizona and he became a realtor. They lived there for 10 years before moving to Colorado and worked in the banking business. While in Colorado he enjoyed skiing, watching the birds at his birdfeeder, working in the yard and keeping up with the national news.
Don is survived by his wife Dorothy and his three children: Lynda Hayes(Todd) of Golden Valley, Minnesota; Susan Martin (Ryan) of Denver, Colorado and Laurie Salazar (Tony) of Littleton, Colorado. He is also survived by two grandsons; Kevin and Tyler Hayes and one granddaughter Meghan Salazar,
Don is preceded in death by his parents Herbert and Veronna Westphal; sisters Shirley Westphal and Lorraine Moon; and brother John Westphal.
In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting donations be made to a charity of your choice in his name.
His funeral will be held at Bethany Lutheran Church in Cherry Hills on June 30th at 11:30am with the internment at Fort Logan National Cemetery following at 1:00pm..
