Donna Mae Guzowski

May 23, 1928 — April 28, 2015

Donna Mae Guzowski, born May 23, 1928, passed away April 28, 2015. Donna is survived by her husband Anthony J. Guzowski, daughter Laurie Hargrove, granddaughter Carla Butler, 6 great grandchildren, all of Denver, and brother Arlo Dehnert of Vacouver, Washington. She is predeceased by her first husband Jerry, son Kirk Hargrove, and sister Doris Peters.

Donna was born to Edward H. and Lita Mae Dehnert of LuVerne, Iowa, the youngest of three children. She grew up in LuVerne, graduating high school at age 16. Thereafter she attended the Hamilton School of Commerce in Mason City, graduating in 1947. She then moved to Fort Dodge, Iowa and worked as a legal secretary until marrying Jerry Hargrove in 1951.

Donna and Jerry had two children, Kirk (1952) and Laurie (1954). The family moved to Denver in 1955 and in 1962, Jerry died in a car accident.

Thereafter, Donna worked for the State of Colorado as a legal secretary and for the Colorado Association of Public Employees (a precursor to what is now PERA) until 1994, when she retired.

In 1969, Donna married Anthony (Tony) J. Guzowski.

After her retirement, Donna and Tony traveled extensively in their various RVs. Donna was an avid reader and did some volunteer work for her church and helped her neighbors.

The family wishes to thank Tammy Meade for her dedication and service the last few years. The family also wishes to thank Denver Hospice for their loving care in Donna's last days.

A special thanks to niece Susan Clark and nephew Don Tankersley for all they have done and continue to do.

Private family services will be held.
