Donna Nell Steward

Donna Nell (Taylor) Steward, 76, beloved wife, mother and grandmother, went to be with her Heavenly Father on Monday, August 24, 2026 after a hard-fought battle with cancer.

She was born on April 29, 1950 in Plainview, Texas to Donald Kenneth and Vernell (Stowe) Taylor.

Donna was saved as a young woman when a friend invited her to church and after that experience of God’s grace, she wanted to share the love of Jesus with everyone she met.

She graduated from Plainview High School and attended West Texas State University where she met the love of her life, Gary Steward, and the two were married on August 20, 1970 in Plainview.

They moved to Colorado and together they raised 5 children. They celebrated their 56th anniversary just days before she left this earth.

Donna will be remembered by her family, church and community for her boldness and generosity. She loved blessing others, and she often expressed how blessed she felt herself. Christmas was her favorite time of year and she always went out of her way to make it special for all of her loved ones.

She treasured time spent with her grandchildren, who brought her immeasurable happiness and were among her greatest blessings.

Donna was preceded in death by her parents and her granddaughter, Allison Lillian Gilman.

She is lovingly remembered by her devoted husband, Gary Steward; her five children, Garret Steward, Mary (Ryan) Chamberlin, Melissa (Mark) Gilman, Taylor Steward and John Steward; her granddaughters, Emily, Kayla, Peyton, and Harper; her grandchildren by love, Freya, Konner and Killian; her brother, Kenny (Marylin) Taylor; and sister, Sharon (Edd) Henderson; and a host of nieces and nephews, other relatives, and friends.

Funeral services will be held Friday, September 11, 2026, in Plainview, TX at College Heights Baptist Church 802 Quincy St. Plainview, TX 79072 at 1:00pm, with her nephew Ben Faus officiating. Graveside services to follow.
