Doris was born and raised in Chicago, Illinois. She married George Stephen in 1946. The marriage lasted 68 years until her husband passed. Doris and George had four children, Glen, Roger, Diane and George. They had seven grandchildren and many great-grandchildren.
In 1970 Doris and George moved to Ladysmith, Wisconsin. They loved the country setting. Deer would visit daily and they would often see bear, cranes and assorted wildlife.
They enjoyed making maple syrup and tending to their one acre garden. It was truly their Heaven on Earth and they lived there over forty years.
