Doris Garcia 88 of Lakewood, Colorado passed away in her home
of natural causes on December 16, 2014.
Doris was born October 26, 1926 in Wausau, Wisconsin. She is
the daughter of Alex Edenhofer and Ella Deininger. She is one of
seven children; Raymond, Donald, Eleanor, Alvin, Alice, and Marion.
She married Nicanor Garcia on November 9, 1945, in Hebbronville,
Texas. Together they honored his military duties traveling the states
and across oceans to Germany and Japan. Along their travels, they
were blessed with four children; Nicanor Jr., Gilbert, Victor, and
Brenda. Doris and Nicanor settled in Aurora, Colorado in 1955 where
they raised their children together until Nicanor passed in 1978.
Doris continued to love and care for her family and always
considered Colorado her home.
Doris loved playing cards, shopping, staying in touch with her
friends, and most of all, cherished her time with family. Her sense of
humor and strong values always came through in her conversations
and she always made those around her feel special. She will be
missed by many.
Doris is survived by her sons Nicanor Jr. (Connie) Garcia of
Lakewood, Gilbert Garcia of Aurora, and daughter Brenda (Roger)
Peterson of Arvada; seven grandchildren, Traci (Chris) Conroy, Eliot
Moore, Jamie (Randy) Bragg, Kelly (Cody) Thomas, Cristina (Jeremy)
Smith, Cristopher (Kristen) Peterson, Colin Peterson; thirteen great
grandchildren, Lauren, Britton, Jaiden, Ashton (Caiti), Christopher,
Tyler, Dominique, Addison, Austin, Jackson, Chloe; one great, great
grandson Sailor; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents Alex and Ella, husband
Nicanor, son Victor Garcia, and two brothers Raymond Edenhofer
and Alvin Edenhofer.
Visitation is Sunday December 28, 2014 from 1:00 to 4:00 pm at the
Newcomer Funeral Home in Lakewood, Colorado. Burial Services
will be held Monday December 29, 2014 at Fort Logan National
Cemetery, Staging Area A at 1:45PM.
