Dorothy Theresa Cichos

Dorothy Theresa Cichos, 99, of Bennett Co, died on May 26, 2026 of natural causes.

Dorothy was born October 1, 1926 on the family farm in Hazelton, N.D The daughter of Willard and Wilma (Heaser) Germain. She was one of 17 children.

She attended school in Hazelton N.D. After high school she attended college in Jamestown where she earned her teaching certificate. She taught in a one room rural school house until marriage.

Dorothy married Lawrence Joseph Cichos on August 18, 1947 at St. Paul’s catholic church in Hazelton, N.D

She is survived by her son Dennis, daughter-in-law Alyce, daughter Deborah (Jerome) Maddock and son Steven (Terrie), 25 grandchildren, 89 great grandchildren and 8 great-great grandchildren.

Dorothy will be remembered for her strong faith and dedication to the catholic church. When asked what message she would like to tell her family, her response was “keep the faith.” She was a role model as a mom and grandmother. Her grandchildren will mostly remember her for teaching them how to play cards, playing hide the thimble, camping, and her special K bars.

Dorothy was proceeded in death by her husband Lawrence, whom she was married to for 69 years; sons Gary and Conrad, 3 grandchildren, and 3 great grandchildren.
