Dorothy Arline Elliott, 77, of Arvada passed away peacefully at Collier Hospice the day after Christmas, on the morning of Monday, December 26, 2016.
She was 1 of 8 children of the late Daniel and Crisanta Jaramillo, born on January 2, 1939, in Mogote, CO. Dorothy received her Graduate Equivalency Diploma on May 18, 1999. Widow of the late Joe Elliott. Dorothy and Joe married and raised a daughter and a son in Denver, CO.
Dorothy was a Bracing Operator at Rocky Mountain Orthodontics from October 1965 to August 1996. She retired after 31 dedicated years of service.
Dorothy was a woman of faith and family. She was a long time parishioner of St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Denver, CO. After moving to Arvada, she frequented the Spirit of Christ. Dorothy adored her family, especially babies and furbabies! In turn, she was beloved by them, her friends, and neighbors. At least one neighbor lovingly called Dorothy "The Little Godfather" of their town home community; because although she was small in stature, nothing ever intimidated her and she commanded respect. She was definitely feisty. A firecracker for sure! Dorothy was also a hard worker; at one time holding both a full time job with Rocky Mountain Orthodontics and a part time job as a Cashier at a dry cleaner near her North Denver apartment. She was classy, her style timeless. She not only took pride in her appearance, but she prided herself on being a strong, independent woman. Before her health declined, she loved to workout, yoga was a favorite of hers and when she could no longer go to the gym, she stayed active by walking her beloved Yorkshire Terriers around the neighborhood. Dorothy was an amazing cook; two of her famous dishes being chicken tortilla soup, as well as spaghetti with meatballs and Italian sausage. Her grandchildren and great-grandchildren especially loved Grandma Dutchie's annual Italian Christmas dinners. Before her eyesight started to fail, she loved to sew and made cherished quilts and other gifts for her loved ones. She also loved books, both print and audio, especially those written by her favorite author, John Grisham. Over the past 40 years, weekends were lovingly spent with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren; often hosting sleepovers and visits filled with her delicious recipes and playing games of catch, court, checkers; Sundays she and her grandchildren ended weekends with Mass at St. Patrick's, followed by breakfast at a nearby diner and trips around the city that often included the mall, movie theater, pet stores, and dinner at Amici's.
