Dorothy S. Neely, 93, of Aurora, passed away 9/29/14.

She was born to the late Preston and Nellie Sykes Snowden, July 15, 1921, in Bay Minette, AL. Dorothy graduated from Baldwin County High School. After attending Business College in Mobile, AL, she moved to Montgomery where she met Thomas C. Summersgill. They were married August 23, 1947 in Prattville. Thomas preceded her in death in 1960. She later met Harold M. Neely in Montgomery and they were married August 15, 1964 in Phoenix, AZ. They relocated to Aurora in 1976 where she has resided for 38 years. Harold also preceded her in death in 1999.

An accomplished bookkeeper and office manager throughout her career, Dorothy retired as Credit Manager from Jeppeson Sanderson. She loved going to work every day.

Dorothy is survived by 4 children: Joy Christain (Allan) of Rock Springs, WY; Dr. James T. Summersgill (Patty) of Louisville, KY; Kelly Michels (Rick) of Aurora; Harold M. Neely Jr. (Jo Anne) of Summerfield, FL. She is also survived by 7 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her parents, husbands and 6 brothers and sisters.

A memorial service will be held at Newcomer Funeral Home, N. 190 Potomac St., Aurora 3 p.m. Saturday, October 4. Friends and family may gather one hour prior to the service.
