Douglas D. Friedrich
Son, Husband, Father, Uncle, Grandfather, Friend
Doug was born on February 2, 1942 to Ted and Phania Friedrich in Amelia, Nebraska. He spent most his childhood in Nebraska until his family moved to Arvada, Colorado in the late 50's. He graduated from Arvada High School in 1960. He attended Colorado State University where he studied drafting. On Christmas Eve 1963, he began a 43-year career as a television engineer at KWGN (Channel 2). He loved to talk about how he assisted with televised events such as the 1984 Olympics, Denver Nuggets games, Colorado Rockies (hockey) games, 1989 World Alpine Ski Championship in Vail, and the local children's program, Blinky's Fun Club.
During his retired years he loved spending more time building his life long hobby of coin collecting, watching the Denver "Donkeys" (Broncos), traveling, and spending time with his grandchildren. Additionally, his love of history and historical television shows always made for a great conversation, which usually took place while helping out a friend or family member. He continued his Men's Club membership that allowed him to give back by supporting the college scholarship fund at Light of the World Catholic Church. He built life long friendships assisting with the annual Christmas tree sales and the LOW Fair.
Doug (the youngest out of 7 children) is survived by his oldest sister Phyllis Waldo-Fox of O'Neil, Nebraska. His two daughters Jennifer and Melissa survive him, from his first marriage to Trudy Helt. He was preceded in death by his second wife, Marilyn, and is survived by their two sons, Brian and Steven. He spent his last 37 years married to Cheryl. She survives, as do her daughters Donata and Nicole. His twelve grandchildren, Samantha, Maverick, Nick, Dawn, Danielle, Jared, Meghan, Anahera, Madilyn, Mikayla, Oscar, and Brayden also survive him.
