Douglas (Doug) Franklin Conner passed away at the age of 62 on January 11,2016. He was at home in Centennial Colorado in the loving company of his Mother, Sister and dear friend.
Doug was born at Fitzsimons Army Medical Center in Aurora Colorado on November 26,1953 to Jack F. and Anna D. Conner.
Doug graduated from Hinkley High School in Aurora Colorado in 1972.
In September of 1973 he was involved in a motorcycle accident that left him a quadriplegic. Despite his injuries, he pulled himself up through some very dark times to live his life to the fullest.
Doug married Teresa West on July 12, 1986. He had two stepdaughters Shawna and Hanna West. In 1988 he graduated from Metro State with a Bachelors Degree in Education.
Doug moved to Las Vegas where he lived for 10 years and wrote his self-published book "The Challenged Travelers guide to Las Vegas". He then returned to Centennial Colorado where he substitute taught for Cherry Creek School District for 11 years.
Doug always loved the outdoors. Later in life he was able to get back to one of his passions, hunting. Nearly 41 years after his motorcycle accident he was able to fulfill one of his life goals and procure a cow elk. He not only got his elk, but also completed the trifecta and got a deer and pronghorn.
His life touched so many people. We know everyone that knew him has a story, we encourage you to share your memories with us on this site.
Doug is survived by his mother Anna D. Conner, Sister Valerie A. (Harold) Herrman, Niece Lindsey A. (Steve) Petalas, Nephew Steven L. (Leslie) Herrman, Great-niece Annalise Boyd, Great-nephew John Petalas and Stepchildren Shawna West and Hannah (Roby) MacDougall.
At Doug's request there will be no services. His ashes will be spread in a private ceremony with family and his closest friends on an undetermined date.
