Dudley E. Thomas, son of Henry Lee and Hazel Inez Thomas, was born on January 2, 1949 and passed away on Saturday, April 28, 2012 from trauma suffered in an accidental fall at home.
Dudley was graduated from Bear Creek High School in 1967. He was then drafted into the Marine Corp and served one tour of duty in the Vietnam War. He was honorably discharged in July of 1971 and served in the reserve until July of 1975. While a Marine, Dudley received many medals, badges, and commendations such as the Rifle Marksman Badge, National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal, and Good Conduct Medal.
When Dudley returned, he met and married Jeanie Glass in 1973 whom he met and fell in love with at Lakewood Church of Christ. He also enrolled in college and subsequently received his Associate Degree in Electronic Digital Technology from the Community College of Denver in 1973. He worked for Control Data for many years as a computer engineer. Dudley retired in 2004.
Dudley enjoyed football, especially the Denver Broncos. His hobbies included wood working, reading, hunting, and practical jokes.
Dudley will be remembered fondly by his family and friends as a compassionate and loving husband, brother, uncle, and friend. Dudley was a generous person who gave his all to help those in need, oftentimes allowing others needs to come before his own.
He is survived by his wife of 38 years, Jeanie Thomas, his sister Jan Ciesielski, Nephews Josh Ciesielski, Brett Thomas, Eugene Howland, and Cory Glass; Nieces, DJ Vogele, Joyanna Harsh, and Lindsey Campbell; Great nephews, Logan and Daniel Ciesielski, and Jayden Vogele, Great nieces, Paige and Emma Vogele, and Amanda and Cassidy Howland.
Dudley was preceded in death by his parents Henry and Hazel Thomas and his brother Jerry Thomas.
Memorial services will be held on May 4, 2012 at 7:00 PM at the Lakewood Church of Christ. Jack Young will officiate. Interment will follow on May 7, 2012 at 9:00 AM at Fort Logan National Cemetery with full Military honors and the presentation of the American Flag to his wife, for his courageous service to our great nation during the Vietnam War as a Marine.
Dudley will be missed by all who knew him, and we pray that the Lord above will accept him into his Kingdom with open arms and watch over us from above.
