Edward A. Trujillo, Jr.

February 12, 1932 — June 13, 2015

Edward A. Trujillo, Jr. , 83, of Lakewood, CO, passed away June 13, 2015.

He was born February 12, 1932, in Santa Fe, New Mexico, the son of Edward and Hattie (Carstens) Trujillo, Sr.

Ed grew up in Taos, New Mexico, and attended Highlands University in Las Vegas, New Mexico, where he earned his Bachelor's degree in education. Following this, he served in the U.S. Army in Korea for two years. Upon return, he went to Washington University in St. Louis, Missouri where he received an M.S.W. in Psychiatric Social Work from the George Warren Brown School of Social Work.

At this time, he met his future wife, Judy Scott, and they were married on June 13, 1959. He began his career at the Veterans Hospital in Albuquerque. Their two sons were born there. After 7 years, he and his family moved to Denver, where he first worked as Director of Social Services at the University of Colorado Hospital. He also served as Director of Personnel there before moving to the University of Denver as Affirmative Action Director. He later returned to the Veteran's Hospital as Chief of Social Services where he remained until his retirement in 1997.

He and his wife enjoyed many trips to Central America, Europe, and even Thailand. His love of the mountains was well know to all who knew him. One of his proudest accomplishments was hiking the entire Colorado Trail; he also climbed 30 of Colorado's 14,000 foot mountains. For many years he sang in the choir at St. Barnabas Episcopal Church in Denver. He was an avid reader of mysteries and especially liked Tony Hillerman's novels. For many years, Ed enjoyed birding with his wife and became very knowledgeable in identifying many different birds. He was even dubbed "the Spanish" pointer for his ability to find birds when others could not! Above all, he loved his family and got immense pleasure from his four grandchildren, spending time with them in a variety of activities.

He is survived by his Wife; Judy Trujillo; Two Sons, Edward "Ted" A. (Suzanne) Trujillo III & Miguel Andres Trujillo; Two Granddaughters, Merisa Trujillo & Aviella Trujillo; Two Grandsons, Jakob Trujillo & Andres Trujillo.
