Edward V. Geary

August 28, 1923 — December 29, 2014

Edward Geary 91, of Denver, Colorado passed away on Monday, December 29, 2014. He was born August 28, 1923 to Edward and Mary Geary, in Chambersburg, Pennsylvania. He had two sisters and a brother. Frances Strickler, and Anna Geary his twin, who preceded him in death, and Joseph Geary who resides in Florida.

Ed proudly served in the United States Army in Europe during World War II. After his discharge he re-located to Colorado, where he continued to live out the remainder of his life.

He had 3 children with his first wife, Dorothy Pelham Geary, who passed away in 1969. In 1970 he married Katherine Donald. They enjoyed many activities together including traveling the world and having many family get-togethers with their children and their five grandchildren. Everyone who knew Ed, loved him. He was always the person wanting to help others and enjoyed many years of doing favors such as clearing sidewalks of snow for all his neighbors on Birch St in Denver and lending them a helping hand for anything they needed.

Ed worked for the Denver Public School system, where he retired after 25 years of working as a master plumber. He was a member of Christ the King Parish and volunteered with The Sacred Heart Food Bank, Saint Anthony of Padua Parish and St. Vincent De Paul. Ed and Katherine were avid bridge players, which they enjoyed together, until her passing in 2012.

The immediate family would like to give a special show of appreciation to close relatives Ken and Mary Black for their many years of love and devotion to both Katherine and Ed. They have always had a special bond and spent many holidays together. They worked tirelessly to help in their time of need and have always shown them great love and respect.

Ed is survived by his loving children, daughters Cecilia (Don) Kelley, Marge (Dave) Benes, son, Marty (Chris) Geary, grandchildren Josh (Yvonne) Kelley, Ed (Michelle) Hoagland, Robert (Jennifer) Hoagland, Chad (Cyndi) Geary, and Trent Geary. 10 great grandchildren and cousins Ken and Mary Black.
