Edythe B. Tupps

April 29, 1923 — April 2, 2015

Celebration of Life

Edythe Bessie Winters Tupps was born in Littleton, Colorado on April 29, 1923. Edythe made her final move to Heaven on April 2, 2015. Family members were by her side.

Mom attended Brick Center School. She rode a horse to and from school. During her high school years, Mom lived with Mrs. Hartman in Bennett.

Edythe married Calvin Leo Tupps on May 14, 1943. Mom and Daddy lived on the Watkins farm until 1978. Edythe and Calvin raised wheat, barley & oats. They also raised and showed Aberdeen Angus Cattle. Mom did the farming while Daddy worked at Duffy's bottling company in the late 50's and early 60's.

Edythe was a daughter, sister, wife, mom, aunt, and grandma to many. Mom had a heart for kids who were struggling along life's path. She and Daddy always had someone extra living with them.

Edythe was an active member in the P.E.O. Sisterhood, the Strasburg Community Church, Sunday school teacher and Elder at the Bennett Presbyterian Church. She was a 4-H leader, class sponsor and chaperone. Mom loved to write cards and letters. She would send cards to everyone for every occasion. Her hand writing was amazing until the last few months. It was great fun for Mom to sit at the window and watch the squirrels and birds at the window. Mom loved history of all kinds. Over the years Mom drove to Wyoming and Nebraska to visit family. Edythe was a home body so traveling was not a priority to her. She managed to go on a Disney cruise, a riverboat cruise, and took trips to Ohio & Oregon. Mom and Daddy liked hunting and camping.

Edythe is survived by her four children: Franklin Earl Tupps, (Donna); Ida Jo Busnardo (Mario); Norma Jeanne Sexson; Kalvin Leo Tupps. She also is survived by 26 grandchildren, 33 great grandchildren of which one is on the way, and 5 great great grandchildren. Jeanne Supan is Edythe's only surviving sister and Eunice Steele is the only surviving sister-in-law. Edythe was preceded in death by her husband Calvin in 1980; her sisters Vergie Brockman and Frankieanne Emerick; her parents Josephine and Frank Winters; her in-laws C.E. and Ida Tupps.

In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting donations be made to the Strasburg Community Church.

A viewing will be held at Newcomer Funeral Home east side from 4-8 p.m. Thursday, April 16th. Celebration of Life service will be held at Strasburg Community Church, 56155 Sunset Ave., with a cookie reception to follow immediately after the service.
