Elaine Grasmick, 88, entered her heavenly rest on February 7, 2016.
She was born in Eads, Colorado, on August 23, 1927. She spent her early childhood years on a farm north of Wild Horse, Colorado, until her family moved to Lakewood in 1936.
She was graduated from Lakewood High School and completed the two year program of Central Business College. She began work with Jefferson County Bank, later Jefferson Bank and Trust, shortly afterward.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Edwin and Anna Kannenberg, and her sister, Jean Kayser.
She married Clifford Grasmick on a rainy day, June 12, 1948. Their three children, Allen (Janet), Gary (Cheryl), and Sheri (Kreg), reside in the greater Denver area. Her special niece, Kay (Niall), resides in Fraser, Colorado.
Elaine was a dedicated mother, grandmother of five granddaughters and two grandsons. She was graced with being the great-grandmother of seven. She loved following the growth and progress of all of them, and was a continuing source of encouragement and energy.
Her family remembers and treasures her dedication in providing abundant meals and desserts. It is probably impossible to calculate the thousands of cookies, the acres of lasagna, and the parade of cakes that emanated from her kitchen.
Even more important than the physical nourishment, was the constant and careful encouragement she provided to the children and grand-children, especially in times of trouble or difficulty.
She was an active member of St. Luke's Lutheran Church. Her faith was a central part of life and daily living, as well as an inspiration to others.
She enjoyed travel, and collected spoons during her visits to numerous states and countries. She was on a quest to visit the state capitals of all 50 states, even if that involved a long detour.
Memorial donations can be made to St. Luke's Lutheran Church, Golden, Colorado, or to the American Heart Association.
Services will be held at St. Luke's Lutheran Church, 11319 West 20th Avenue, on Tuesday February 16 at 11:00 am. Burial will follow at 2:00 pm at Fort Logan National Cemetery.
