Elaine R. Williams

November 6, 1940 — July 26, 2012

Elaine Rochelle Williams, age 71, of Aurora, Colorado was carried by the wings of the angels that God sent her on Thursday, July 26, 2012 to carry her home.

Elaine was born in Kansas City, Missouri on November 6, 1940 to the late Lucille Gleed and late George William Shelby. Elaine graduated from Mitchell High School in Colorado Springs, and attended Colorado State College in Greeley, Colorado where she met and fell in love with Wellington J. Williams Sr. and soon was wedded.

Elaine was a very devoted military spouse where she was active in her husband's military career. This also include moving numerous times. While assisting her husband's career she discovered that she had a passion for education while teaching preschool at Andersen Air Force Base on Guam. Upon return to the US, she attended University of Colorado and obtained a degree in primary education. She student-taught and landed a position with the Aurora City School District where she passionately and devoutly dedicated her career teaching at elementary education level.

Elaine continued her own educational pursuits receiving a Masters Degree in Computer Education from Lesley University, Cambridge, Massachusetts. She continued educating and mentoring America's young, eventually retiring from Aurora City School District. However, she could not sit still and devoted her retirement years performing long and short term teaching substitution.

Elaine received numerous awards, accolades, and honors, that included Who's Who Among America's Teachers - a testament to devotion to educating America's youth and mentoring promising teachers.

Elaine is survived by one sister Carol Weaver of Inglewood, California; Two sons: Brian Williams of Aurora, Colorado and Wellington J. Williams Jr. of Virginia Beach, Virginia; One granddaughter Toria Williams of Chesapeake, Virginia; One niece Michelle Ingersoll of Phoenix, Arizona; One nephew Pierre Galvez of Redlands, California; along with a host of loving extended family members and friends.

Elaine is preceded in death by her husband Wellington J. Williams Sr.; son Todd Williams, mother Lucille Gleed, step father Col Edward Creston Gleed, sister Elizabeth Ingersoll.
