Eleanor Ann Humphries (Rasberry), age 86, departed from this life on October 21, 2025, in Centennial, Colorado.
Born on June 9, 1939, in New York City, Eleanor was the beloved daughter of John and Celestine Rasberry. She was raised in New York and educated through the New York Public School system, attending kindergarten through junior high before graduating from Washington Irving High School. Her pursuit of higher education led her to Benedict College in Columbia, South Carolina, and later to Metropolitan Community College in Colorado.
Eleanor’s professional journey began early when began working as a packer at Klein’s department store during high school. Eleanor went on to build a successful career as an administrative assistant with Lederle Laboratories in Pearl River, NY and later with Air Methods in Greenwood Village, CO. After retiring from corporate America, she started Early Bird Child Care in Centennial, CO which she lovingly owned and operated for over a decade.
A woman of deep faith and unwavering conviction, Eleanor gave her life to Christ at the age of sixteen during a Billy Graham crusade—an experience that shaped the rest of her life. Her spiritual commitment remained steadfast throughout the years and was reflected in her kindness, compassion, and dedication to others.
Eleanor had a creative soul and found joy in crafting and cooking. Whether through handmade gifts or culinary creations for those around her, she expressed love through every detail.
Left to cherish Eleanor’s memory are her devoted daughter Jade Humphries-Graves (Ted), sons Troy E. Humphries and Lance E. Humphries; grandsons Malik E. Humphries (Kahlulali), Kareem E. Humphries, Xavier E. Humphries, and Timon E. Humphries; great-grandson Ikaia and great-granddaughter Malulani; brothers Reverend Robert Rasberry, Pastor Melvin Rasberry, and Pastor Warren Rasberry; along with many nieces, nephews, cousins, relatives, friends, and business associates who were touched by her warmth and generosity.
She is preceded in death by her loving husband Jack E. Humphries; her parents John and Celestine Rasberry; and her brother Charles Rasberry.
Eleanor’s life was a testament to grace, perseverance, and faith. In her own words: “Always remember that my one goal while here on earth was to prepare myself to one day be with my Heavenly Father. I have achieved that goal and one day hope to see each of you in Heaven, where we will have a great reunion.”
May her memory bring comfort to all who knew and loved her.
