She is preceded in death by her husband, Richard E. Eaton; parents, Benjamin and Ruth Mendel; and sister, Constance Berris.
Ellie's early years were spent in Runyon and she graduated from Perth Amboy, New Jersey high school in 1942. After graduation, Ellie worked as a key puncher for Johns Manville in New York City. During this time, Ellie's sister Connie invited Ellie to Georgia to meet the man who would become the love of her life, a young army first lieutenant named Richard (Dick) Eugene Eaton . Ellie and Dick were married shortly thereafter.
Four children were born to Dick and Ellie: Richard, David, Nancy, and Barbara. Ellie and Dick attended football, baseball, and scouting events with their young sons and when the girls came along, Ellie demonstrated her beautiful sewing skills by making dresses, costumes and even wedding dresses for Nancy and Barbara. She was also skilled at needlepoint and cross-stitch, lovingly creating many articles that her family will cherish for their lifetimes. Ellie's other interests included gardening, fishing and spending time with those she loved.
Ellie was also an accomplished tennis player, teaching herself the game at an early age and instilling a love for the game in her husband and children. Ellie was the Perth Amboy High School Champion and won numerous USTA women's and mixed doubles championships at state and sectional levels.
The family would like to thank those who loved and cared for Ellie during her life.
In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting that donations be made out to Denver Dumb Friends League.
Ellie's interment will be at Fort Logan National Cemetery.
