Elise Margrethe Cornish

January 7, 1981 — March 1, 2024

Elise Margrethe Cornish (Berndt) passed away peacefully on March 1, 2024.

The Newcomer Funeral Home in Lakewood is handling the arrangements. A Celebration of her Life will be held in the Denver area on April 20, 2024.

She was born to Gerald and Grete (Sandersen) Berndt on January 7, 1981 in Brookfield, Wisconsin. She graduated from Brookfield Central High School in 1999 and attended the University of Wisconsin Eau Claire where she received her BS degree in 2003. She moved to Denver in September 2003 where she met her husband Matt that year at Oktoberfest in downtown Denver. They married on September 12, 2011 in Golden, Colorado.

During her last years, Elise worked from home for a large international technology company, handling accounts receivable and payable. Due to her wonderful work ethic, she always received rave reviews from her boss and coworkers. It was typical of Elise to ask if she could do anything additional to help. Elise loved living in Colorado and enjoyed skiing, hiking and camping.

Elise is survived by her husband Matt and their dog Lettie, her parents Gerry and Grete (Sandersen) Berndt; her sister Kirsten (Stuhr); her brother-in-law Chip; her niece Amalie and nephew Charlie; her in-laws Phyllis and John Cornish and sister-in-law Kelly and many loving relatives in Colorado, Wisconsin, Illinois and Texas. She truly enjoyed spending time with her dear cousins in Fort Collins.

In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting donations in her name be sent to the MaxFund Animal Adoption Center. (MaxFund.org)
