Eulogy
Elsie Pearl Farley was a wonderful and beautiful mother. We were the luckiest children that God blessed us with her. She was a wonderful, sweet and kind Mother, Grandmother, Great grand mother, Great, great grand mother. Holding her grandchildren her face would glow with light. She was elegance and beauty and she was the most beautiful gem of all. she was kind to all, she loved her rock garden of flowers, her loving son gave her angel and children statues to add to the beauty. Every time you walk in a garden and feel the soft breeze that carries the sweet scent of lilacs please remember our mother. She loved pinks and purples and wore them often. She loved her jewlery and dolls. Her favorite sport was bingo. When she was in her teens She worked at the Broadmore Hotel as an elevator operator. One day Liberache enter her elevator and said she was so kind and beautiful he gave her a $100 tip in 1950. They improved the elevator no longer needing operator and she went to work for a cleaners where she met my dad. My dad calls the day they met as one of the miracles of his life. She worked at a nursing home for several years. And worried she couldn't get her CNA license, but of course she was an intelligent person and got her certification. We were all so very proud of her.
She taught us to be kind and gentle, to tolerate the harsh realities of life
with a song in our hearts. She taught us to show strength against the immoral and evil that lives among us. Her gentle and kind spirit will bring us peace thoughout our lives. Her hugs could cure all the pain, leaving us always feeling, loved and safe.
We also found this poem amount her pictures. I'm not sure if she wrote it or replicated someone else's in her own handwriting.
Treasures
The world is full of treasures but each must find his own,
For in the silence in our thoughts we go our way alone.
A treasure the one heart has found, no other heart can borrow.
My dolls are quite a treasure, I cannot throw away
Because they hold within their dusty depths
That joy of yesterday.
In a moment of great sorrow we looked in her bible, She had left a letter to her children and husband and I would like to read this for everyone to hear:
To my children and Michael,
I would like the memory of me to be a happy one. I would like to leave an after glow of smiles when the day is done. I'd like to leave an echo whispering down the lane of happy times and laughing times and bright and sunny days.
I would like the tears of those who grieve to dry before the sun, of happy memories that I leave behind. Please keep those memories in your heart and never let them fade. Elsie
To my husband:
Its been years we've been together (61 years) some happy and some sad. You've been very special to me. The sweet blessings of our children. How much I love them. They have made me so very proud. They grew up so fast I hardly got to tell them how much I care. My precious little rosebuds. Michael, There will always be a special place in my heart for you and I will always love you. Elsie.
