Ernest Edward Vendegna was born on March 28, 1927 to parents Angelo and Mary Vendegna in Denver, Colorado. He had 3 brothers and 5 sisters.
Ernie lived in Colorado his entire life and worked from the moment he was born. He set the standard of providing for his family through hard work and pride in a job well done. In his early years he worked for Ridge Valley Poultry and family business. At the age of 45, he changed careers and became a landscaping supervisor for Jefferson County Schools, retiring at 65. He lasted 2 months without a job and began a new career at Albertson's in which he stayed for 17 years.
His positive personality and willingness to help others touched many lives. He left Albertson's to care for the love of his life, Clementine, when she needed him, and refused to leave her side. She left his loving arms on July 26, 2012. They were re-united in heaven 4 days later when he too was called home.
Ernie loved animals and raised many throughout his lifetime. There wasn't a plant or seed he couldn't grow, and his sun room held many exotic examples of his green thumb. His poetry was famous among the family. Though he was never published, he willingly shared it with each new generation of grandchildren.
He was blessed with two sons Ernest Michael and Michael Joseph; nine grandchildren Crystal, Anna, April, Angela, Angel, Nicholas, Jessica, Aspen and Ryan; sixteen great-grandchildren Brittany, Camden, Ashlynn, Tony, Luke, Lance, Joseph, Clint, Tristen, Chase, Mia, Riley, Madison, Tylor, Trea'Ann and Gage.
In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made to a charity of your choice in their honor or to the American Cancer Society.
