Ernest Dale Gottlob, 93, of Lakewood, CO, went to be with the LORD on Monday 20 February 2017.
Dale was born to the late Roy and Verna (Godfrey) Gottlob on 25 November 1923 in rural Arkansas City, Kansas. He graduated from Arkansas City High School in June 1942, and then served for three years in the US Navy. He married Juanita Porter on 8 November 1946.
Dale then farmed wheat until a hail storm destroyed his crop, so he went to work for the railroad as a brakeman. In 1947, because he was always away from his family, he decided that he might as well enlist in the Army Air Corps. He earned an officer's commission (as a "90-day wonder") in 1949, followed by a full career in the US Air Force, retiring as a Major in 1965.
Dale then started his second career, working as a production supervisor for Bourns, Inc., in Riverside, CA. After 17 years, he transferred to Ogden, UT, where he retired three years later.
Dale kept busy in his retirement as a part-time janitor at Washington Heights Baptist Church. During his free time, he enjoyed building a wide variety of crafts, with which he loved to bless family and friends. This generosity continued to blossom as he and Juanita moved to Conifer, CO in 1993.
While in Conifer, Dale enjoyed serving at the Conifer Seniors Club, several years as President.
For health reasons, Dale and Juanita relocated to the Courtyard at Lakewood in 2011, then to Brookdale, Lakewood in 2015.
Dale is survived by his loving wife, Juanita, of 70+ years, and sons Steven Dale, Martin Ray, Paul Allen, Jeffery Michael, and David Carl. He is also survived by 13 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Peggy Jean, a son, Neil Stanton, a sister, Lanore, and a brother, Verne (Bud).
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Rocky Mountain Chapter of the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation (https://www.cff.org/Chapters.aspx?id=1765&page=1&state=467), or the Veterans Administration.
